The West Hollywood Musical [working title]
Original Book by Tom Jacobson Music by Deborah Wicks La Puma Lyrics by Shishir Kurup
Co-Directed by Michael John Garcés and Mark Valdez
West Hollywood, 1984. What happens when residents in a little urban pocket in western L.A. decide to band together in their quest for community, sanctuary and rent control? E. Pluribus Chaos!
The West Hollywood Musical [working title] follows the story of four UCLA friends who became pioneers of their generation by knocking down doors and uniting ex-Soviet immigrants, GLBTQ activists, and senior citizens in establishing West Hollywood as The Creative City…making it the vibrant cultural, artistic, and political hub it is today, more than 25 years later.
Heartbreaking, scary, triumphant...and musical.
